ASSW 2023 Science Symposium Call for Sessions

06/01/2022

ASSW 2023 will be held in Vienna, Austria 17 - 24 February 2023. Organizers are now accepting session proposals for the ASSW 2023 Science Symposium entitled "The Arctic in the Anthropocene".

ASSW is organised by the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC) and hosted by the Austrian Polar Research Institute (APRI). Organizers describe the event as it follows:

"Never before has the Arctic experienced such a high pressure by human impact either by local environmental disturbances or by global climate change leading to long-term changes and massive challenges to the resistance and resilience of polar ecological systems and Arctic societies.

The Arctic Science Summit Week 2023 will bring together scientists, Indigenous people, Arctic community members, and Arctic science stakeholders from all over the world to present and discuss the most recent advances on Arctic knowledge in the natural sciences, social sciences, the humanities as well as in the field of Indigenous knowledge. Besides the major Arctic focus of ASSW 2023, the OSC will also be an opportunity to foster research synergies between both Polar Regions, with sessions that integrate Arctic and Antarctica in order to understand global dimensions of anthropogenic impact. The call for sessions is open to June 5, 2022.
